Middleton Place is a plantation museum up the Ashley River from downtown Charleston. Excellent gardens (oldest landscaped in US), good dining, petting zoo, roaming sheep/lambs. Nice water and historic features. Very near to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens as well as Drayton Hall. All rich in Colonial history.

Steve Rees

On Wed, Jul 29, 2015 at 11:32 PM, Dale Farmer via Stagecraft <stagecraft@theatrical.net> wrote:

Yup, The Yorktown, and the Laffey and the other exhibits there are worth it. Fort Sumter if you are into military history. The fire engine museum. Lots of plantations and the slaveowner culture. Charleston was one of the wealthiest cities in the USA prior to the Civil War. The Hunley is close to or completed it's desalting process, so you may actually be able to see it now.
