Every time I've been called for jury duty, the prosecuting attorney always says something like, "Unlike on the Perry Mason TV show, the guilty party is not going to stand up and blurt out that they are guilty. What I remember is, with I believe one exception, the guilty person was the last one called to the stand. He always confessed in the witness box. I'm also a "Columbo" fan. Those old shows still work.
Speaking of Perry Mason... my Dad always maintained that the guilty person of the episode was always the person who was on screen at exactly 20 minutes into the episode. Not sure how he figured that out, if it counts the commercial time or even if he was correct. But, as he was my Dad, I never questioned the veracity of what he said.
Currently engrossed in episodes of "Columbo", but maybe I'll test the theory at some point. Although, as my father passed away many years ago, I would hate to sully his memory by finding out he was giving us a load of BS... although I wouldn't put it past him.
