For my money, honestly, I'm
seeing so much congestion in the 2.4 band in my facilities that we avoid it
as well. The trick with 5.8 is the shortened range. We're having better
luck with the narrower band digital stuff fitting between TV channels out
here near LA.

Regardless of your recommendation, know that the 600MHz band
is going away soon, and is to be avoided at all costs. New information
came out this month with additional details and better timeline estimates.

technologies are coming out to utilize different frequency bands but the
future is uncertain. Don't expect anything you buy today to be with
you in the long haul. 100% digital on shared spectrum (2.4, 5.8) will
probably be a better purchase today, but you're still competing with
consumer devices for that same spectrum. Proper antenna layout can
probably mitigate
interference.

Ray

<div

folks... I have a friend whose church is preparing to clear out
their collection of barely-hanging-on wireless mics... all analog, in
various states of repair and functionality, and replace with new (both
some handhelds and over-the-ear types). He's sorting through the
choices of analog and digital systems.... just curious about
pros/cons/pitfalls of digital. (We all know about the dwindling
frequencies.) I said I'd ask here.
Not necessarily asking for recommendations as to specific brands or
models (but that's certainly welcome) - mostly looking for thoughts on
whether digital is all it's cracked up (or hopes) to be, and should
one choose one over the other.
