Definitely string guided with a catcher (hooks or other item that
prevents it from falling back or going astray) at the other end.
If you need it to arc it gets a lot trickier, like a string from
the center of the arc on the deck so it arches up and back down.
Hitting the catcher could be problematic in that case.<br>
<br>
Burst of CO2 could achieve the liftoff and with some baffling dump
a bunch to the sides to look like the ground smoke from a liftoff.<br>
<br>
Generally not a good idea to actually have anything burning in
use!<br>
<br>
May have a small glittery streamer for a flame effect, work with
the lighting person.<br>
