Not sure yet if I will be going, but the employer has been hinting at having me help with more events like this. I will check and see. For my $.02, I would also throw in projection to the equation. Corporate events is where I really got my start doing video as I was primarily lighting and rigging before that. Now, I almost exclusively do video. If you would like to include that aspect in your discussion, let me know. Even if I don't make it out there, I would happily help provide information on the similarities and differences.
"Greetings all,
I'm putting together a panel to discuss the differences between design for
a theater show and an event. Looking for panelist with experience in both.

Description
Designing for corporate live events is almost the same as theater except
for all the differences. This session will introduce design concepts and,
more importantly, technical methods used in live events produced at
convention centers, hotel ballrooms, etc. Also rigging needs.

Learning Objectives
Participants will learn:
Differences between theater and corporate event design.
Specifying equipment needed for a "bare walls" rental space.
Lighting Director, Lighting Designer, Lighting Programmer, L1, L2, Master
Electrician; what do all these folk do?
