Our school district follows the ALICE training program. We had one meeting on it two years ago with law enforcement officials when we initiated the training. Live training and simulations were run with us practicing running and distracting vs. hiding and barricading. Communication as to where the shooter(s) is is key for people to effectively leave our building. Yearly training on video is mandatory for all of our staff members. I don't know what our administrator's schedule is to repeat the live action training. When we first did our training, Columbine was the primary source that was drawn upon as an example of what to not do. Sadly, there are many more real cases out there to draw upon now of what to do or not do.

One of the major things that came about at the same time as our ALICE training was an anti-bullying campaign and to make the school as inclusive to as many students as possible and to try to make sure no one feels ostracized. Taking away the cause of some to go ballistic is a great way to prevent having to put the ALICE training into practice.

Keith Newman

Technical Director

Cleveland Heights High School

On Tue, Oct 18, 2016 at 4:42 PM, Stephen Litterst via Stagecraft <stagecraft@theatrical.net> wrote:

On 10/18/16 4:28 PM, Michael Powers via Stagecraft wrote:
