While I was T.D. at UMass Amherst, the hockey team redid the players bench area. Seems the ice did not extend under the benches so the surface there and along part of the sidelines was UHMW. I was able to score about 100 pieces of slightly scared up UHMW 6"x24"x3/4" thick. A couple of passes through a surface planer and I had perfectly smooth plastic 1/2" thick.
