    I notice some vendors charging as much as $10 for these.  They're

    under $2 on eBay.<br>

        readily available, easy to program (SPI or just bit bang).  Pure

        graphic (84 x 48) so you can do an icon, text, etc.  Backlit. 

        Display can be fully updated as fast as 1mS.<br>
