<div dir="auto">You can build the engineering into a design build contract with a theatre equipment contractor. The tracks could be supported from overhead, catwalk even "hung" from carriers. An aluminum catwalk should not be all that heavy, though may not be necessary. Seems to me it's half the weight for three times the cost or something like that. You could go to truss guys and they could bang out a quote and weight quickly. <div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">At 30' I suspect a pair of beams approx 5-6' from walls, chain motor trolleys, and a light steel structure is most economical and feasible for your budget.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Nov 27, 2017 5:51 AM, "Bill Nelson via Stagecraft" <<a href="mailto:stagecraft@theatrical.net">stagecraft@theatrical.net</a>> wrote:<br type="attribution"><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">>>> Will $30,000 even pay for the engineer and the architect?<br>

I am sure that a PE will be necessary - I was just questioning the need for an<br>
architect.<br>
<br>
We own the building, but I doubt if any drawing exist. We did have a<br>
structural engineer examine the building recently to make sure it is sound.<br>
But I don't think he closely examined the wall strengths, just stated that the<br>
existing ceiling beams would support flying our electrics.<br>
<br>
Mounting tracks on the walls, which is starting to appear to be the best<br>
choice, is another matter. The mobile catwalk will have to be pretty heavy to<br>
be able to span that roughly 30 foot span.<br>
