<div>First, thanks for the tips and ideas.</div><div><br></div><div>I work in the refrigeration industry, where both polystyrene and polyurethane are used. The benefit to polyurethane is that it is much less flammable, it has toxic fumes when burned. The polystyrene is much less toxic when burned, but is much more flammable.</div><div><br></div><div>The goal of using a hot wire or soldiering iron on the polystyrene, is not to burn it. Rather, to simply melt it, which does not release any toxins. Still, it is best to have good ventilation.</div><div><br></div><div>-Joe<br></div><div><br></div>
