<font face="Arial">Since all operating systems "help" now by
resizing the screen if you unplug or turn off the monitor, or
switch the monitor to a different system using a KVM switch, many
people want a way to avoid this "help". At first you could disable
the autoresize in software, but programmers were absolutely
determined to "help" and the work-arounds eventually stop working.<br>
<br>
So, if you haven't found these yet, there are cheap plugs that
pretend to be a video monitor. Most are designed for "headless"
systems that never have a monitor connected that use use VNC to
access. These are under $2 and work fine...unless you actually
want to have a monitor active at times.<br>
<br>
Example of one I have<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-VGA-Virtual-Display-Adapter-HDMI-1-4-DDC-EDID-Dummy-Plug-Display-Emulator/283198361213">https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-VGA-Virtual-Display-Adapter-HDMI-1-4-DDC-EDID-Dummy-Plug-Display-Emulator/283198361213</a><br>
<br>
You can also plug the above into the spare hole of an HDMI
splitter and then switching your monitor in/out isn't a problem.<br>
<br>
There are also pass-through plugs that let you plug the monitor
into the other end and seamlessly switch between monitor and
dummy. They're a bit harder to find and a little more expensive.<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://www.ebay.com/itm/Virtual-Display-Adapter-HDMI-EDID-Dummy-Plug-Male-to-Female-Emulator-Lock-1080P/153123147201">https://www.ebay.com/itm/Virtual-Display-Adapter-HDMI-EDID-Dummy-Plug-Male-to-Female-Emulator-Lock-1080P/153123147201</a><br>
<br>
I also have a VGA version for an old system, it works the same way
but with a VGA plug instead of HDMI.<br>
