<p class="MsoNormal">Hi all,<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Dick Archer, Technical Director at Cornell University, mentor to many of us, and longtime contributor to the list has passed.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He was recently moved into Hospice, and surrounded by family at the time of his passing.
<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He had been battling liver cancer (ironic, as he never touched drugs or alcohol) for the last year and change.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Dick has been an incredible resource to many of us over the years. He was a stagehand at Woodstock, mentored Tom Hanks (as a stagehand, not actor) at the Great Lakes Theatre, and worked as both a Professor at Cornell and freelance TD for
the last several decades.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He was a sometimes curmudgeon (though never with a bit of spite), with a fantastic sense of humor who was almost world famous for his ability to mutter under his breath (somewhat like Yosemite Sam), while making himself perfectly clear.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Dick was fantastically talented, brilliant, and extremely practical.
<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">His list of professional accomplishments are way to long to list here. But suffice it to say, he will be missed by many.
<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I count myself very lucky to have been his friend.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">So, I propose a toast, and raise a glass of something that Dick would not drink (I prefer scotch, Dick would have milk and cookies) to a fantastic man, a friend, a mentor, a sounding board, a human encyclopedia… and someone whom I will
miss very much.<u></u><u></u></p>
