getting the computers set up, my tiny Linux NUC just came out of
the suitcase and plugged in. The Linux NAS box has been loaded
with a fresh copy of Ubuntu and is currently dealing with a ton of
backup files. It's also playing videos of the Moscow Kazachi
Choir on the TV set. They were surprised we didn't want TV
service with our internet, with all these computers who needs
cable?<br>

Tomorrow is connecting and initializing the two 4TB RAID drives on
this.<br>

Sharon's waiting for me to get her new Windows 7 up so she can
deal with all the paperwork/accounting since we left the USA.

Then I need to get the mechanical CAD system up, Windows 10, 32GB
ram, normal sort of stuff.<br>

Our sponsors are keeping us up to eyeballs in fresh, tasty food.
They also filled the freezer but so far all we've gotten into is
the ice cream. Famous Kuban ice cream, now we know why people
import it to other countries.<br>

to our new house on Saturday evening, since then:<br>

Had a problem with the Internet, the technician swapped out
the 100Mbps router for a 300Mbps one which now works.<br>
<br>
Had our arrival VCR tests, I tested BetaMax (but no sign of
THE VIRUS).<br>
<br>
Met with the local migration magistrate and had our
temporary residency approved. We have to leave for 1 day
every 6 months.<br>
<br>
Permanent residency ("green cards") waiting for documents
from US Dept of State, they said <br>
<br>
The fridge and freezer were stocked full of food and drinks,
water, soda, beer, vodka, home made cha-cha...<br>
<br>
NO MORE AIRPLANES! Aren't even any in the sky around here,
no nearby airports.<br>
<br>
Still setting up all the new computers, will post pictures
on our web site when I find them all and get them organized.<br>
<br>
a note from our travels: Airport security has to closely
check cell phones but couldn't care less about the 12 TB of
encrypted hard disks in our bags. Didn't even have to take
