<div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:small">Movers are a really different animal from conventionals. MagicQ has some very nice training video series on YouTube - just 10 min each or so - which takes you thru the basics of setting up and using movers. It's specific to their console of course, but will give you a very good basic understanding of programming and using lights w/ lots of parameters. And it goes down real easy... you'll learn a lot in just an hour or two.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:small">I'm sure the other manufactures have similar training videos online - it's a great place to start, I've found.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:small">-Steve Haworth<br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Wed, Oct 12, 2022 at 1:52 AM David Neale via Stagecraft <<a href="mailto:stagecraft@theatrical.net">stagecraft@theatrical.net</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">Howdy. I hope you are all thriving or at least surviving. I wasn't able to reply to the "What are you doing these days?" post that came out a month or so ago because I was busy transitioning into my new gig which isn't really a new gig. For the last 22 years, I've been the Drama/ Video/ Stagecraft/ DT teacher, director, set designer (etc. etc.) at the American School in Japan. Last year, our theater manager retired and I have quite happily transitioned into the position where I am thoroughly enjoying wearing just one hat. I'm still teaching stagecraft but other than that I manage the day-to-day operations of our 440-seat (expandable to 600) proscenium arch theater and our black box. I'm designing three main shows and running the lights and sound crews. <div>Although non of this is brand new to me, I would very much like to brush up on my lighting skills, in particular DMX, LEDs, Movers, and programming our ETC boards. I would also be OK with reviewing basics like creating a plot, circuiting, and color theory. Can anyone recommend a decent online course that might help me with this? Ideally, it would be something I could do at my own pace without required face-to-face elements, as the time difference is a killer. I've browsed YouTube and found some helpful videos but am hoping to find a one-stop shop. I do have some PD money I can use. Any thoughts would be appreciated.<br></div><div><br></div><div><div><div><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><p style="font-size:13px;color:rgb(0,0,0);margin:0px"><b>David Neale</b></p><p style="font-size:13px;color:rgb(0,0,0);margin:0px"><b>Theater Manager and </b><b>Technical Theater Director </b></p><p style="font-size:13px;color:rgb(0,0,0);height:3px;width:50px;background-color:rgb(253,190,21);margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:10px"><br></p><p style="font-size:13px;color:rgb(0,0,0);margin:0px"><a href="https://asij.ac.jp/" style="color:rgb(17,85,204)" target="_blank"><img src="https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/5cb3e1e72edee022e184ec20/5fc73e8e65103d497f2baffb_ASIJ-logo.png" alt="The American School in Japan" style="width: 100px; height: auto;"></a></p><p style="font-size:13px;color:rgb(0,0,0);margin:0px"><b>The American School in Japan</b></p><p style="font-size:13px;color:rgb(0,0,0);margin:0px">1-1-1 Nomizu, Chofu-shi, Tokyo, Japan 182-0031</p><p style="font-size:13px;color:rgb(0,0,0);margin:0px">(+81) 0422-34-5300 ext 452</p><p style="font-size:13px;color:rgb(0,0,0);margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:0px"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/asij_official/" style="color:rgb(17,85,204);margin-right:10px" target="_blank"><img src="https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/5cb3e1e72edee022e184ec20/5fc73e8e65103d33462baffc_ASIJ-instagram.png" alt="ASIJ Instagram" width="20" height="20"></a><a href="https://www.facebook.com/asijtokyo/" style="color:rgb(17,85,204);margin-right:10px" target="_blank"><img src="https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/5cb3e1e72edee022e184ec20/5fc73e8eb7aa9a1d29f3ef8d_ASIJ-facebook.png" alt="ASIJ Facebook" width="20" height="20"></a><a href="https://twitter.com/asij/" style="color:rgb(17,85,204);margin-right:10px" target="_blank"><img src="https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/5cb3e1e72edee022e184ec20/5fc73e8e40f5b84cdc2c2aab_ASIJ-twitter.png" alt="ASIJ Twitter" width="20" height="20"></a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/c/ASIJTheAmericanSchoolinJapan/" style="color:rgb(17,85,204);margin-right:10px" target="_blank"><img src="https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/5cb3e1e72edee022e184ec20/5fc73e8d81e7be51a7f4ff63_ASIJ-youtube.png" alt="ASIJ YouTube" width="20" height="20"></a><a href="https://www.linkedin.com/company/71068/about/" style="color:rgb(17,85,204)" target="_blank"><img src="https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/5cb3e1e72edee022e184ec20/5fc73e8d4623fc1143ba0ea1_ASIJ-linkedin.png" alt="ASIJ LinkedIn" width="20" height="20"></a></p></div></div></div></div></div></div>
