Fabulous theater technician. </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Ironically, the day they died, JP posted job openings citing folks going back to college. An acquaintance who has a college-age kid that wants to work in the industry shared the job posting asking “Are all employers this cruel?” </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Interns - by law - are not supposed to do the work of a regular employee. </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">I’m livid.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">A friend died because the employer was cutting corners. In case folks had not heard, this past Friday, Jacobs Pillow Dance <br clear="none">
Festival in Becket, Mass had a fatal accident, killing their production <br clear="none">
manager.<br clear="none">
Apparently she and one of the interns were rolling a cart piled with <br clear="none">
sections of dance floor down a ramp when it got away from them. She <br clear="none">
tripped and fell in front of the cart, and it tipped onto her, dumping <br clear="none">
the contents on top of her. First aid was performed, EMS called, but <br clear="none">
she did not survive.<br clear="none">
OSHA, and local police investigated, and ruled accidental death. <br clear="none">
Jacobs Pillow has since announced they are ending their season. <br clear="none">
Workplace safety is important. No show is worth your life.<br clear="none">
Raise a glass in her memory, and celebration of her life.<br clear="none">

It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic news of the passing <br clear="none">
of a beloved member of Jacob’s Pillow’s staff: Kat Sirico.<br clear="none">

Kat was a Pillow alum and an essential and hugely devoted leader on our <br clear="none">
team. Their spirit, generosity, and dedication touched the lives of <br clear="none">
many. We are holding their family, friends, and colleagues in our hearts <br clear="none">
as we grieve together.<br clear="none">

All performances and events on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3 <br clear="none">
have been canceled and the campus will be closed. We will resume <br clear="none">
