Thank you to everyone that has replied to me. I really appreciate your
comments.

Just so everyone knows, a stagecraft class does exist and mainly theatre
majors take it. The challenge is that our enrollment is way down. We have
8-12 majors and a handful of minors. My student workers are mainly
engineering students. We are very excited for our new chair that began in
August. We are currently working on revising the curriculum and setting
recruitment goals.

The chairs idea was to offer the class during work hours so that the
engineers could take it. The chair thought the engineers couldn’t take
Stagecraft because it was being offered in the mornings when engineering
classes are being offered at the same time. What we found out was that the
engineering students couldn’t take it no matter what because they have
every single day planned for them the day they walk into the first
classroom.

Having the class in the afternoon, as Paul mentioned, is not a good idea
due to the fact that less would get done. As June mentioned it would
accomplish the educational goal, but it will impede on my overall
efficiency.

So it sounds like based on Kristi’s, Richard’s and June’s responses that
maybe a technical director or production management class might be a good
idea once we get butts in the classrooms – haha!

Thank You,
Matthew J. Evans
