[SML] upgrading audio mixer

I've also heard good things concerning the Beringher since Midas got involved, particularly with their preamps.
I'd also take a look at the Soundcraft Expressions 1,2,3, depending upon your channel needs.  I've used quite a few of them since they came out and they are priced to be competitive.  I've never had an issue with them and the eq and effects are pretty good.

It would be interesting to know just how they 'break'. Do their
internal interconnections fail? Do their power supplies fail? Do they
suffer from the failure of op-amps or DACs or other complex
components?

To me, three years seems an astonishingly short lifespan. Properly
designed gear should have at least a 20-year lifespan, failing from
obsolescence rather than anything else. I know that I have a
reputation for over-engineering designs and systems. This costs more
at the time of their installation, but far less in maintenance and
system downtime, in the long run. But the bean-counters will have
their say.

I cannot speak to the PreSonus quality, but Behringer bought Midas
specifically to address quality issues, and it shows in the X32 line
of products.  Also my experience with the post Midas Behringer has
given me a renewed trust in the company.  Especially when you see
all the changes they demonstrate that Midas engineering has brought
to Behringer.    It's a different company now.

I have had bad experiences with Behringer. They may have improved drastically
since buying Midas, but I am not willing to take the chance. That might change
in another 5 years or so - but not for now.

I have never used or seen a PreSonus in use. I am looking at their on-line
information now. There is only one digital board that would fill my needs
(StudioLive 24.4.2 AI) and, at first glance, does not seem to have any
advantages over the A&H.

What happens when a relay fails on the work welder, they send the wrong replacement relay, the project still needs to be finished and Craigslist pops up a working 160A MIG for $200?  You run out between the matinee and the evening show and end up with an Airco Dipstick 160 in the bed of your pickup, that's what.  Honestly, I'd have bought it for the name alone though the fashionable orange color is an added bonus (blue and red are soooo clich?d).  However, as it not only works as a MIG (based on using it in the PO's garage, and what I need right now) but was also at one point capable of AC/DC stick and TIG, with a 60% duty cycle, it might prove to be a good shop addition anyway.  The good: it's currently working well and I can get my project finished while I wait for the correct relay.  The price was right, especially considering I could probably get it back by selling the regulator, full roll of wire and scrapping the rest (it's HEAVY). The bad: though it has a nice replace!
 ment Tweco gun and the drive motor and roller are new thanks to the PO, parts are hard to come by based on a preliminary scour of Google and eBay.  Thus the question:

Anyone have a good supplier for parts and accessories for old machines like this?  I'm looking to add the stick welding electrode clamp first and maybe set it up for TIG in the future.  The insides will get a good cleaning in the meantime, once it finishes welding up the next set.
