Took the words right out of my.... keyboard.  Just like paying for the
rights for a show, renting wireless mics for your show should just be
considered a "cost of doing business."  Dale hit the important points:
wear, tear, and repair is someone else's problem, as is the shrinking
frequency pool.  Years ago, I used to be of the mind of trying to
figure out how to get the (thousands and thousands of) dollars to buy
into a robust system, but I am so glad we never did.  I've watched
many area theatres, colleges and high schools dumping their 700mhz
parts, and will see it again with the 600mhz mics.
