[SML] hot wire foam carving transformer

There are a lot of brand names for variable transformers, Variac(tm) is
just one of them.  The first one you listed looks like an updated
version of the one I have (different outlet), these are made by a few
companies and sold by many under the name of the month.  My wife calls
it the Frankenstein box.

As long as it supplies the current they need, you should be fine.  There
is no harm in having a variable transformer bigger than you need, it
actually decreases the odds that someone will overload it a week after
you buy it.

I also have a 120V to 220V autotransformer that I can plug in the output
of the variable and that way test things up to around 280V.
