I, too, like the Olympus range. I currently use an UZ**** model, with
a zoom range out to 500mm, in 35mm terms. While I shouldn't reccommend
using this hand held, it is viable with a monopod, and no problem with
a tripod. It seems to have all thwe facilities I might want, although
how to access some of them is hidden from me.

It also has a proper viewfinder, which allows you to brace the camera
to your face, which increases the steadiness. I despair of people who
hold their cameras at arm's length. It also knows when it is connected
to an USB port, from which it takes power when needed.
