I have a rather unnecessarily large variety of multi-tools from Chinese made weirdos to Leatherman Micra and on up. When I ran props on feature films I had a toolbelt with about eight multi-tools on it and I was always looking for new and different offerings in the multitool, world. However, now I use the Victorinox multitool almost exclusively. It's got pretty much everything I want in a multi tool (although I had to make a choice between a serrated blade and scissors. I found I used the serrated blade way more often than the small scissors so I went with the blade) and is pretty much indestructible. All the tools, save the pliers, are on the outside of the tool and lock in position. Unlocking them is a breeze and does not require lifting another tool. The handgrip when using the pliers is smooth so you can really grip it strongly without calling upon your ancestors. It has a lifetime warranty and when I broke the screwdriver the repair was very quick.
I want nothing to do with Gerber multitools. I had one that started to rust in its factory provided pouch even though it had never been used. I got an extremely lengthy and angry argument with the repair tech at Gerber who decided I decided that I knew nothing about steel and that the tool was rusting because Gerber uses such high quality steel. Rust was not covered by their "Lifetime Unlimited Warranty" for some reason.
I finally convinced somebody above him that not only was I not stupid but I was getting thoroughly pissed off and would not be purchasing any more Gerber Products. He agreed that the tool should not be rusting and sent a replacement which I immediately sold when I received it. Gerber also let me to keep the original which I sold as well. I do have some Gerber knives but will never touch the multi-tools. The steel in them is much too good.
