Large pocket windows/doors can be a structural problem, especially if the wall
is load bearing.

For example: if you have an 8 foot clear aperture and conventional pocket door
construction, you will have a 16 foot span which will require some really
heavy headers.

You can reduce the span to 12 feet if you only allow the two windows to run to
one side.

Running a single pane vertically would only require a clear span of 8 feet.
