Fantastic.  We have people swearing by with the grain and
perpendicular to the grain, wide crown and narrow crown..  You'd think
it wouldn't be as difficult as getting consensus on BBQ or beer, but
seems it is.

I like the newspaper trick though - almost makes me want to build a
flat to try it.  Not sure I can give up on canvas, animal glue, and
cleat nails though.
