Getting to this conversation late, but here goes . . .

I bought a batch of S4 years ago that had a bad paint job.  ETC fess'd up and made it right.  They still left me some of the original bodies (and also gave me new bodies as well).

I've tried repainting the bodies several times.

Rustoleum high temp black flat paint.  It always went on fine, and cured, but over the next 2 years (until next maintenance cycle) the paint would start flaking off at the hottest end of the bodies.  I've tried to wire brush them prior to painting, a primer one year . . .  the paint eventually flakes off the units after a year or so (depending on usage).

I've just lived with it, and repaint as necessary.
