That's not an unfair question.... last year, during a very
well-selling show, and busy weekend, our district-wide internet
infrastructure went down, and since it was a "weekend," it was seen as
a non-critical time, so time was spent leisurely fixing things, with
the PowersThatBe assuming the only reason anyone from the outside
would want "in" were people trying to access their files.... patrons
couldn't go to our site to purchase tickets, or see if there were any
seats available at all.... and, technically, they could bypass our
site and go to Tix.com directly and buy tickets, but we had no access
to Tix.com to process or administer. (And no way to post a notice on
our site to visit Tix.com directly.) It was a scary mess, but luckily
we were back online about 2 hours before the final show, and luckily,
beyond very stressed patrons who couldn't get online showing up at the
box office an hour early "just in case there were tickets available,"
things went reasonably well.

But it's a scary notion.... losing that internet connection....
