[SML] CO2 cylinder

I looked at sodastream. Proprietary CO2 tank fittings, and not all
that large of a capacity. I looked at the adapters for refilling them
from standard CO2 cylinders. Then I looked at the ingredients of the
sodastream syrups. Every single one of them I looked at contained
artificial sweeteners. That pretty much made it a non-starter for me by
itself.

What I did was buy a couple of those old five gallon steel soda
canisters, a standard CO2 cylinder, regulator and a couple of fittings
and some tubing. I now have effectively an infinite supply of seltzer
water on tap. I have to refill the tank every five gallons is all.
Mostly I drink seltzer with lime juice, or if I want soda, I have
bottles of soda syrup that I buy from the local Perkins restaurant
superstore and mix up a fresh soda exactly as I want it. Only
drawback is the tanks are too bulky to fit in my fridge. So I'm keeping
my eye on craigslist for one of those chest freezers to convert to a
soda fridge.
