As others have said, the hen does not need a rooster around to make
eggs.  Just like the ladies of the audience can attest, eggs are
produced without the assistance of a guy.  A lot of people don't make
the connection - much like a lot of folks don't realize a cow can only
make milk AFTER getting knocked up.
