Just keep in mind that the framing structure may not be the same in the
basement as it is in the upstairs walls.
Is it definitely 1x6 T&G (probably 3/4" thick)? Or is it some sort of
simulated T&G paneling?
If it is 1x6 T&G and the framing/furring is adequate, then it should be plenty
strong. Make sure to stress the hanging bracket before hanging the TV.
If the T&G is vertically mounted, then it may be hard to find the studs inside
the wall. There should be horizontal furring/nailing strips at the top, bottom
and intermediate positions behind the T&G. When I helped install a T&G wall
covering, the furring strips were placed on 12" centers. I have no idea if
that is standard. We nailed into the furring strips, not the studs.
