SOLVED! (I hope)

Hello everyone,

I spoke with my local lumber purchasing agent on Friday and learned a lot. I
also did intense research over the weekend and contacted many of my theatre
colleagues. Here’s what I learned:

Masonite International stopped making their Duron product in 2006. Masonite
was the product of choice for stage floors. Since then many manufacturers
have tried to duplicate the product without success except one company
called Decorative Panels International.

Linseed oil or Flaxseed oil produced by Cargill is now being used in the
tempering process due to FDA regulations and emissions. Because of this
processing, an extra step is required in the installation process. Sanding!

I contacted Decorative Panels International and had a very informative
conversation with Tim Boerst, the director of International and Industrial
Markets. Tim was able to explain the process of their product and how it’s
used for stage floors. In fact he stated he gets at least one phone call a
week from contractors inquiring about stage floors products and
installation. Tim mentioned theatre consultants that specialise in
refurbishing theatre’s specifically specify the TP220 ¼” Double Sided
Hardboard for stage floors.

I have included a link to Tim’s PDF’s Tim shared with me regarding stage
floors, including installation instructions.

I am very confident this is the direction I'm moving in.
