This may be helpful for evaluating LCD monitors: http://www.displaylag.com/
Website that measures the latency of various monitors for video games.

One of the most challenging issues I've seen is not scaling the image
anywhere from the camera all the way to the display. e.g. Blackmagic's
SDI to HDMI converters only have 4 lines of delay (i.e. 0.1 ms) when
no frame rate or resolution changes are required, but 1-2 frames of
delay (i.e. 33 - 66 ms) if they need to scale the image or charge
frame rate.

Delvcam has some cheaper SDI monitors designed for on-camera use which
I would assume have very low latency based on their purpose, however I
haven't used them personally.

How about SDI options instead of HDMI. You'd still have to deal with
converter latency, but you don't have the copy protection overhead to deal
with.

Are there decent displays out there with native SDI in yet that don't cost
thousands of dollars?
