Try for 17 years. Yes we could save money on energy, but among the
reasons for keeping it up are:
Afraid (maybe not justifiably so) that it won't come up. Or forget things.
A belief (again no justification just a superstition) that frequent
on/off cycles are worse than continuous running.
Need it operational without waiting for power-up cycle.
Many users have no idea how to power up some of the systems.
Of course our venues are used daily (at least school day daily), some
multiple times a day.
While we do power off or schedule sleep times for most monitors (hang
over from crt days), most all other equipment is left running 24/7,
including. Amp racks, audio mixers and accessories, light boards,
dimmer racks, video switchers and routers, and computers.
