This is a serious problem. There is a concept called "bend angle",
which is how much the light has to bend on passing through the screen.
If you are trying to have it too large, half the audience will only
get a very dim image, at best. TV studios used to solve the problem
with huge mirrors, about 12' square, so as to be able to get the
projector a long way from the screen.

Wide-angle lenses are a big no-no for back projection.
