For what it's worth, many of the installations using Wahlberg and Kinetic
Lights winches are over the audience - they're often art type installations
that people are walking/standing/seated under. They've clearly done the
research and installations to prove they believe it's safe.

That said, I suspect they're also often installed high enough/with short
enough cables that even if the winches fully extend, the objects don't go
low enough to hit people.
