Reading the description, it appears you may need a converter for 12 VDC to
some sort of AC at about 90 volts (if I recall correctly) in the range of 1000
to 2000 Hz.

Hope the power supply is not too expensive. Or, if you are handy with
electronics circuits, it would be pretty easy to build one from scratch.

In the mid-60's, I was given an EL panel designed to be used for illuminated
house numbers above the doorbell. By varying the frequency of the oscillator,
I was able to get some color change - if I had had a good audio oscillator, I
might have been able to vary the color even more.
