[SML] ETC Safety cable loop

When I use the cast loop, I usually deal with the not reaching problem by looping the safety around the pipe, passing the clip though the loop on the cable and hooking the clip through the cast eye on the fixture.  Anyone else use this method?  Any reason I should stop?
