As an actor who has reached the age when I need reading glasses, I am hoping to find a source for contemporary Lorgnette reading glasses. I thought of them when I once almost walked on stage with my reading glasses on my face. I figured the Lorgnette style would be less like to be forgotten.

I looked at antique ones, and even found some that would be affordable for me. But, of course, they never give the prescription strength. And the more affordable ones, seem to be the kind that fold in the middle of the glasses, where your nose would go. I think the kind that keep the glasses part unfolded would both be more rugged and easier to fold by simply sticking them into your pocket.

So, before I add another item of things to my list of new ideas to ignore for a long time, I thought I would ask if there are any contemporary products out there like this?

If there aren't, here is my concept of the design. The length should be as long as possible, but not so that they stick out and are visible in the pocket. They would ideally incorporate a small light to aid reading backstage in poor light. The light being operated by only a momentary switch, to avoid accidentally leaving them on when you go on stage.

Attached is a period Lorgnette, in case you don't know what type of glasses I am talking about.
