If I may make a recommendation,  try 123DesignCAD.  Free, open source, easy
to learn, a minimum of idiosyncrasies, you can pay for the Pro model if you
wish, and it does 2D and 3D and exports as a number of different meshes for
printing (I print .stl files with MatterSlicer & MatterControl) natively.
