[SML] Pipe Unit Numbering for Corporate Event Plots

In my limited experience with this type of unit numbering the fixture (channel) numbers tend to be laid out much like all of us use unit numbers.

It's understanding that they are usually all at least three digit channels laid out with the first digit representing the truss or pipe number, the second digit representing the unit type and then the third and possibly fourth digits representing the unit number of that type.

I think in an environment where we aren't hanging systems but rather types of lights it's an interesting concept, however in my more or less entirely conventional and system based world it's something that would make my showfile entirely incomprehensible

If they want to call channel numbers fixture numbers, whatever. But the unit number is the only distinct identifier you have. Units can share addresses, or channels, or circuits, or dimmers. The only way to positively identify a specific unit is to give it a discreet number. I can understand if they want the fixture number to be the most prominent, or in a specific place, or bigger, or whatever. Maybe you can place the unit number slightly outside the body of the lamp drawing?
