[SML] E-programs instead of printed programs?

I was recently at a performance outdoors, in a park, by an aerial dance company I used to perform with.
They announced that their program was online, and they verbally gave an easy to type URL for it.
It was a HTML web page, and worked quite well.
They have taken that page down, unfortunately, so I can't share the URL.
People using smartphones during the performance wasn't an issue, as there was some ambient light/sound from the beer tent across the park....
IMO, an online program would be fine for most shows, as people read the program before the show/during intermission.
I do like the idea of a scan-able poster with the link.
Also, short codes, like https://goo.gl/ would be very useful.
If you do have a printed program, it would probably be simple to save as a PDF, put it on the web, and provide a short code for it. Then you could just print minimal copies for people who don't have access to a smart phone, or prefer paper.

All excellent points......

I've actually "retired" from doing all the posters, programs, etc, and I'm sure there will be a serious hit in quality and professionalism, but I figured with the changing of the guard, maybe I'd suggest a different way of doing things.

All those years of carefully comparing paper stocks, training of printers, coordinating offset press quality, overseeing the platemaking, carefully managing screen angles and color management....
just looking at something to offer the new (non-graphic arts-skilled) person some alternatives to consider. And since we don't distribute too many anyway.....
