Hi Ford

The NUK PC's are fine to leave on all the time, I have had a few on for a
year now with no issues, all solid state

I would look at slightly different ETC gear, the Puck is an intel NUK with
a nomad licence, you can roll your own by just buying the licence and the
NUK separately for much less BUT by getting the ETC version you get awesome
support, it is truely 24/7 callback. Your venue might also qualify for the
student package which is a 512 nomad licence and 2 port usb gadget for
$250, with ETC you pay for the DMX addresses you use not the number of
universes, so the 512 can be spread over as many universes as you want -
and yes the playback wing is stupidly priced but comes with DMX outs.

I wouldn't use a USB output device such as the gadget as sacn or artnet are
so much more versatile, with sACN, a chamsys or MA or MPC console can just
be plugged in and run side by side with the house console, it acts as a
interface to the gear and a merger or splitter - and any dmx node will
work, Pathway, DMX King, Enttec, ETC, even a hog dp8000.

With MPC you get to use 4 free universes of output, so playback wing, sACN
node and touchscreen and PC and you are up and running, so it really is
economical for a big name console.

Another wall controller is the Interactive Technologies Scene station,
simple 5 button controller that locks itself when it detects DMX, so main
console off, wall control, main console on, console control.

I really think you need to get them away from an all in one provider as
this will add cost and lock them into one system, just look at all the
places stuck with amazing Strand (StrandNet anyone) setups that are now
stuck replacing everything. I cant think of any great all in one providers
that will give you wall plate control and a video server

If they have a spare MAC there are lots of software video packages, MITTI,
Qlab, Katrin, PRG Mbox, all of them require a artnet or sacn network

and for the love of god, stay away from Midi, its just not right for the
application, it would require them to keep things setup one way, or lose
house lights and would not be friendly to integrate with touring consoles
