That is precisely our situation.  We are also upgrading from Kliegl
dimming, and we also are dealing with end-of-life raceway wiring.  (We're
currently operating without cyc lighting because our US electric is so
deteriorated that it is unsafe to power those circuits on.)

Any worries about the mechanical stress put on the cables feeding your
electrics causing problems in the long run?  As it sits now, when one wire
in a multicable breaks from overuse, we are only down a single circuit.  If
you are feeding power to portable dimmers on the electrics, don't you run
the risk of losing a lot more than a single circuit if the feeder breaks?
