When I've encountered "brittle, cracking insulation" it's been the wiring inside the plug strip and the pigtails, not the multi-wire feeder to the plug strip, save maybe a the last foot and any inside the strip. Are you experiencing failures higher up in the feeder? -- Bill Conner Fellow of the ASTC
