CAT 6 cables, at least, are pretty stiff, and I would imagine a
"ruggedized" one would be even less supple.  When I was using tethered
headsets on stage (6-pin, 2-channel types) - the cabling was pretty
robust, but would suffer from occasionally being run over by a wagon,
but most often as a trip hazard, and as a self-macrame project
(twisting upon itself). Never had any actual fails of the cables, but
they were definitely a safety hazard.  (Still use the wired headsets
for the PSM that isn't moving, plus the light board op, follow spots,
and others that get to sit.)
