There are generally 2 qualities of carriers, ones with ball bearings and
nylon/rubber tires and ones without, the nylon tires and ball bearings do
make a difference over time as the plastic and rivet ones get
noisier/harder to operate, BUT over a long time the rubber ones break down
and thats why they are nylon now

I have found with older ADC carriers that the bearings are not sealed and
can be cleaned, its kind of a last fix thing that gets a bit more life out
of the carriers

soak in degreaser over night in a homer bucket, scrub and re-soak if
needed, rince well, then re-lubricate with spray lube (the type with the
straw)

If its the noise of the carriers clicking together, you can add an H&H #130
rubber bumper, these go on the operating line between the carriers to
prevent steel on steel impacts

Also check the end pullies, they may need cleaning and lubrication or
replacement as well

Older track splices also do not have as many adjustment points so a new
splice can make the join quieter
