[SML] <Re: <hello>

I'm 3 days from Dry Tech on Kafka's "The Trial" (which I'm also
directing) - and all has been running well, until this week's snow
storms started kinking up the schedule. Truthfully, acting-wise, the
show's in good shape, and won't suffer too much with a couple of lost
rehearsals, but getting the tech stuff done is on a pretty tight
timeline (as always, right?) The costume designer hasn't been able to
do fittings yet... gobos and other expendables are trapped in shipping
trucks that can't deliver....

... But I do love pretty snow.

I'd like to echo Greg's sentiments... I've greatly benefited from the
SML over the (mumbly-mumble) decades.... met great people, gotten
tremendous advice on things, and have shared my experiences to a
learned group.

Greg, I turned 50 last summer, and I don't have much choice except to
try to hang in there as long as I can.... but I feel lucky to be where
I am, with a supportive administration, great facility (at least I
think so) and great colleagues to work with. I'm just glad I'm not
doing A L Weber's Phantom. You have my sympathy.

Usually by this time of year I drop from 40 crew members to about 15 doing all the work for the show. This year I went from about 25 in September to 35 with possibly more coming out the week of the show. They are pretty green but they have to start somewhere. At this rate I might get to assign everyone ONE dedicated scene shift for the show to spread the jobs out.
