Have you considered using a visualization tool like Capture? http://www.capturesweden.com/

It can generate a lot of the paperwork you will need, and it's great for figuring out lighting in advance of the show.

They do have academic pricing.

Are any of you all using SketchUp as your main CAD software? We're still working on getting updated from VW12.5. Likely in a lab environment... The school likes the price tag.

Based on the YouTube intro videos, I'm not convinced the lighting guys will like it as much as VWX Spotlight or the ACAD package of lighting tools (which name slips my mind).

Feel free to PM me if you'd rather avoid the potential flame war of whose platform is better.
