I’ve had similar issues (not exactly the same) in the past, and just got tired of beating my head against the wall.
Worst case, you can do what I resorted to, and use something like DropBox to transfer them.

Also probably not the answer you are looking for but I very successfully "share" my pictures and videos to my linux machine, via bluetooth. It's slow but painless. I just need to remember that copying does get interrupted when I walk away from my desk.

I used a Windows machine to copy some stills and videos off my Android phone onto a local disk. For some reason Windows created empty folders in the name of the videos.  As in the video file disappeared and in it's place is a folder named MOVA0023.avi with no files in it.

Any ideas of what went wrong (besides Windows).  I would have used Linux but the gMTP software doesn't work with my new phone.
