How about you use some commercial -style vertical strip blinds with its track and cording? That way you can project onto the front surface, reverse it manually so the other side shows which could be painted or even mylar mirrored. You could partially open it  at the upstage end for an entrance- or just push your way thru. Lots of versatility here. You could always replace the strips with longer ones if you cant find any that are long enough.
