[SML] Overkill

I figured I'd tap the great list mind to see if there's any logical
reason for this...

For one client we 3D print with polycarbonate (or Poly & Her Carbonates
as referred to with the client).  We're using e-Sun brand filament and
their spools at first glance are like any other, styrene spool with 1kg
of filament on it.  But then you notice that instead of the two halves
of the spool being glued together, they're assembled with two M6x40mm
bolts with double-thickness nuts.  M6!  To hold the two halves of a thin
polystyrene spool together?

It's not that I object to a "free" supply of nice hardware, but wouldn't
bolting it together be a little overkill?  Also seems more expensive
than dipping one half in glue and shoving it into mating tabs on the
other like everyone else does?
