[SML] Spreader plates

I believe Clancy recommends  bands  around the stack vertically (and using spreader plates every 2’)

Bill, Just a thought.   As the weight never changes, what about crimped steel banding?  place the banding around the arbor rods at even spacing between the existing plates and or a pair of bands around the weight stack vertically so they would be highly unlikely to jump enough to dislodge even in the event of a run-a-way?
